Last March 11, 2017, the publishing house Diethnes Vima , which has published more than 8 titles by leaders of the Cuban Revolution , and the José Marti Cultural Association organized a meeting to celebrate International Women's Day as it has done in the past. The event was center on Women in Cuba.
It was shown the Cuban documentary "With the memory in the future” (Con la memoria en el futuro, 2006) by Octavio Cortazar produced by Documentales Huron Azul of UNEAC for the 45th Anniversary of the FMC. The documentary centers on the Federation of Cuban Women and the gains made since the revolution as well as the challenges still ahead in overcoming centuries of prejudice towards women.

As part of the event a short presentation of the book "Women in Cuba, the making of a revolution within the revolution" by Vilma Espin, Asela de Los Santos and Yolanda Ferrer which was published by Diethnes Vima in Greek a couple of years ago, were also made, encouraging the audience to read it in order to learn more.The Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba José Oriol Marrero Martínez said some words thanking for the initiative and explaining the nowadays situation of Women in Cuba .
At the end, there were an interesting debate with a lot of comments and questions by the participants. There were around 30 people present.
The event was a great expression of solidarity and honor to the efforts of Cuban Women to get and keep their rights.
